About Needle in a Haystack

Your hosts, Judy and Jeff Fenton, along with daughter Megan, have been restoring this 1900's dairy barn for 30 years.

As a retail sewing and fabric store owner, it has been Judy's dream to someday convert the barn into "Needle in a Haystack"!

Needle in a Haystack Retreat is just that! A beautiful, workshop-retreat haven for quilters, knitters and/or scrap bookers, who need a gathering place to enjoy time together and to experience their passion for these hobbies.

Experience the fresh country air, clean, cozy quilt- covered beds, and a spacious, well lit classroom area while enjoying your hobby.

On the lower living floor, there are six bedrooms and four bathrooms.  Enough beds for 18 to sleep.

On the main level is the classroom area, complete with 18 individual tables -each with a posture perfect, sew comfort chair- for hours of comfortable sewing.  Each person has a 3'X5' sturdy sewing table equipped with a daylight lamp and sewing station organizer, cup holder and scrap trash bin.

There is even a beautiful stone fireplace in the classroom to keep you toasty warm while you enjoy the ambiance of the soft glow. Stay up and sew all night if you want!

Enjoy the outdoor fire pit, paved with the tiles from the original silos, for telling stories and roasting marshmallows with old and new friends.

We have a wraparound porch with many rocking chairs and a large deck with an Amish-style clothesline for airing the quilts upon your arrival on Thursday afternoon. Indulge yourself for the next three nights until you depart Sunday afternoon.

Additional nearby attractions include Peak N Peek a first class resort, for golfing and skiing, many local wineries for tasting and touring, Amish country tours and shopping for handmade wares, quaint shops for antiquing and browsing to find that special necessity for yourself,  and of course fabric shopping!!
