Fabrications by Doris - Fused Fabric Landscape Lecture and Workshops Have you seen gorgeous landscape quilts and thought "WOW"! Doris Deutmeyer has beautiful and manageable landscape quilts. She will bring you some amazing inspiration, showing and teaching you about her beautiful collection of landscape quilts. She will have a lecture/trunk show Thursday evening and 2 different hands-on workshops Friday or Saturday. Join her August 16 - 18, 2018. Thursday, August 16th Lecture/Trunk Show 5pm-7pm  Be inspired by many samples from Doris's collection. Be open to new methods and materials bringing the craft of quilting to the art of our hobby. Follow this artist’s sometimes humorous journey to develop her fiber art into fine art. Friday, August 17th 9am-4pm Autumn Birch Woodland Quilt Workshop  In this hands-on workshop, you will develop the skills to design a raw edge woodland landscape from a photo. First, you will learn the basics of how to compose a great photo; then, how to translate your photo into fabric. You will also learn how to use simple art materials to add stunning realistic details. Using one of Doris’s own photos and fabric you will complete an original birch woodland landscape ready to quilt or frame. 16" x 20" No sewing machine required. Kit includes all fabrics, use of art materials and fusible. Workshop fee is $79 plus kit price $35. Saturday, August 18th 9am-4pm Landscapes Raw Edge Applique Workshop     This workshop offers time to complete your fabric landscape and offers demonstrations throughout the workshop. Topics include how to choose the best fusible and fabric; tools for success; and how to use art materials to add details. Doris will present creative display options with a demo on how to mount and mat a fabric landscape, and how to gallery wrap your landscape quilt on artist canvas for updated display options. Birds are 9" x 13". Others are 11" x 15". Kit includes pattern, all fabric and fusible for one landscape. Choice of one landscape from the 12 pictured. Please indicate which one you would like on your registration form using numbers 1-12 as they are pictured. Workshop Fee $79 plus kit fee $28. **Triple Bonus** Register for all three (lecture and both workshops), we'll give you $15 back. (Store credit to use during the weekend.) You can! Stay Thursday evening and/or Friday evening for $50 more a night.  Doris is a lifelong artist, teacher, and designer loving all things art, fabric, and landscape. She has a BA in Art Educations and is a former Elementary Art teacher having taught all age levels. In 1997, Doris began creating original fused fabric landscapes and mini quilts, which she matted and framed; hundreds of these originals have shown at fine art and craft shows in the midwest. After catching the attention of quilters, she was encouraged to share her expertise by giving workshops and lectures.  |
